Living like a rockstar

The more things change, the more they remain the same.
After living all over Europe, including a few months of partying my way through eastern europe (Czech, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Austria), I’m headed back to California to work on PS3 games again.

Transylvania-bound

When you’re stuck in a completely foreign third-world country where nobody speaks your language and the entire place is shut down due to strikes and riots, there’s only one thing to do: pick a new country where they aren’t on strike!
Romania’s not too far away and I’ve never been there, so next week I’m heading [...]

Riots in Athens

Not content to merely sit back and let everyone be inconvenienced by their strike, Greece’s civil servants marched on the capital today protesting the proposed pension plan changes started a fight and the cops ended up shooting a bunch of tear gas to break it up. From the BBC:
In central Athens, police fired tear gas [...]

St. Patrick’s Day in Athens

I had an unexpectedly awesome St. Patrick’s Day in Athens. The two guys that I spend most of my time with here are from Holland and Britian, so the Dutch guy doesn’t care about St. Patrick and the British guy rolls his eyes at the mention of anything Irish. Greece is something like 98% Greek [...]

Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish

In case you haven’t seen it before, you should check out the commencement speech that Steve Jobs gave at Stanford in 2005.

A Fake Night Out in Athens

I’ve been in Athens for about 3 weeks now and since my command of the Greek language could be described as something less than masterful, I’ve been trying to meet some young english-speaking people or expats I could hang out with. I was a little surprised to find that there is a craigslist for Athens, [...]

Now I’m in Athens?

Make the world stop spinning! Well, I’ve moved again and now I ended up in Athens.
Slightly nicer in that it’s a big city and not quite as expensive as Switzerland, slightly less nice because it’s Athens.
It’s always interesting trying to make long term plans when from month to month I’m not even sure what country [...]

Zurich

Weekend in Zurich visiting a friend. Awesome city, lots of fun. Relatively brief summary since the parents might be reading…

Country Night: Gstaad?

Most of the country music fans that I’ve met were confined to 2 or 3 states in the south, so you can imagine my surprise when I got to Gstaad and discovered that their country music festival is one of the big events of the year. All the big country music acts come from around [...]

Arrival in Gstaad

As most of you have probably heard a million times by now, I moved to switzerland! I just got to Gstaad today, which is where I know a few people. I’m going to spend a month or two here while I scout out some other places, and eventually I’m planning to end up in Zurich.
Gstaad [...]
